In Massimo Bruno, FC Red Bull Salzburg have signed an internationally coveted top talent. The 20-year old Belgian with an Italian background was a first-choice pick for Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht last season and provided an impressive ten goals plus eight assists in 36 league matches. The attacking midfielder also made three Champions League appearances for Anderlecht, scoring one goal. That is only part of the reason he was a transfer target for a number of clubs around Europe.
The Belgian under-21 successfully completed his medical in the past few days and signed a five-year contract.
Sporting director Ralf Rangnick says on the transfer: “Massimo Bruno is one of the biggest young talents in Belgium and is definitely a potential international after the World Cup. It is not for nothing that several European clubs were interested in signing him. He was a first-choice player for Anderlecht despite his young age and has already collected Champions League experience. With his qualities he is an asset for our squad and we are really pleased that we have now completed his signing.”
Massimo Bruno is also happy about his new challenge, saying: “I am completely convinced by the ambitions and the philosophy of Red Bull and am pleased to be able to take part in this project. I will give everything to be successful with Red Bull Salzburg. With Anderlecht I have already played in the Champions League and managing to do the same with my new club is a big aim. The prospects that RB Leipzig offer too are extremely exciting for me.”
