There will be youth football of the very highest level in Salzburg this week. Our co-operation partner for youth development, the Red Bull Football Academy, is hosting another edition of the Next Generation Trophy with the U16 teams of the some of the world's top clubs. Along with clubs such as FC Bayern, Benfica and Inter, Grasshopper Club Zürich will seek to retain their title from last year.
It all kicks off on Thursday 11 August at 11:00 CET as Salzburg's Young Bulls face KRC Genk in the group stage. At 16:20 CET a clash with FC Bayern Munich follows.
All the group stage matches will be played on the opening day. Friday will see the quarter-final and semi-final encounters as well as the first matches for positions. It all finishes then on Saturday with the rest of the matches for positions along with the final at 13:30 CET.
This year, spectators are being admitted again to the Red Bull Football Academy complex – so just come along and enjoy as entrance is free. Anyone who cannot be there live can follow the tournament on our daily YouTube livestream. Reports on each day of the tournament will be posted to fc-liefering.at.
