Nicolas Seiwald extends contract

Local lad pens new deal

Nicolas Seiwald has extended his contract by two years from its previous expiry date in summer 2024 - to 30 June 2026. We have been able to agree on the contract extension with one of our standout players from last season after holding some good and harmonious discussions.

From Salzburg U9 to the UEFA Champions League and Austrian national team

The 21-year-old from the Salzburg area was not only one of the players to record the most playing time in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga last season. The young Austrian has attracted plenty of attention and praise for his strong, polished performances in the UEFA Champions League and the Austrian national team, which he is now a key part of.

His time at the club started as Little Nici Seiwald in our U9. The midfielder has since then played through all the age grades in our youth set-up including the Red Bull Academy. After playing for our co-operation club FC Liefering, he then joined our Red Bulls, and has already made 65 appearances for us.

Nici's development in recent years has been truly incredible. In the last season, in particular, he has performed sensationally, with extremely consistent performances at the highest level even in the Champions League and with the Austrian national team. Nici is a Salzburg boy and has been through all the youth grades at our club from the U9 up.

Despite his young age he is already one of our leading players, and is a really good guy off the pitch too with a highly professional attitude. It makes us all at the club really proud to see a player from the region develop like this, and we are really pleased that he has extended his contract.

I am very pleased to be able to remain at FC Red Bull Salzburg. I have spent almost my entire time in football here, I have been able to learn so much already and would like to keep doing this. It is therefore one of my aims to continue on with my level of recent performances. I will put all of my strength and concentration into that.
