Taking the next steps in women's football

First trial in January

Just a few weeks after the decision to enter women's football with an U16 team from the 2023/24 season, we are taking the next steps towards that at FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Bernd Winkler, a former Austrian Bundesliga player at Altach (among other clubs), has taken over as head of women's football. The 43-year-old from Salzburg has been working as a scout for our Red Bulls for around eight years.

I am really looking forward to the challenge as it's really something I have a passion for. Our aim is to create the right structures to allow as many young female players from the region as possible to join us and train at a good level in order to sustainably grow our women's football team. We will use the same philosophy that we have already gained really good experiences with for the boys in the Red Bull Football Academy. The first trial session in January provides an important first step.

Bernd Winkler

After we made a clear commitment to women's football recently, it has been important for us to quickly develop the framework we need to succeed. These first organisational steps are a good basis for that.
