New training base for women's teams

University and regional sports centre in Rif

From summer 2024, there will be a new training base for our women's teams. The two teams due to be in action by this time will train from 1 Juli 2024 in the University and Regional Sports Centre in Rif and make use of the infrastructure there.

The U16 women's team currently switches between the Red Bull Academy and a training complex in Bergheim. Due to plans to add a second team and eventually more, there is a need for increased training space. This will be available in Rif, just outside of Salzburg.

Bernd Winkler, head of our women's football division, is pleased about the new base, saying:

Our training capacity for our U16 women's team is already at its limit. This situation will become even more difficult from the 2024/25 season with the founding of a second women's team. That makes it even more pleasing to have found a great partner with the Landessportzentrum Rif to allow the girls and women to develop as well as possible in the future.

Sabrina Rohrmoser, CEO of the University and Regional Sports Centre Salzburg/Rif, says:

I am really pleased that we will be able to give girls and women's football a bit of a home here at the Sportzentrum Rif. It became clear to me very quickly in our initial discussions with FC Red Bull Salzburg that this is exactly the kind of idea we support - it is forward-thinking, will bring more young athletes to Sportzentrum Rif, helps to grow top level women's sport and is important for the whole region of Salzburg.
