Mergim Berisha (born on 11.05.1998), who has scored eleven goals so far this season, thereby becoming the top goalscorer of FC Liefering (as well as top scorer so far in the UEFA Youth League) has signed a contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg lasting until summer 2020.
The 18-year-old Kosovan is to be with the Red Bulls as they prepare for the rest of the season, including at their training camp in Dubai. He has been registered as a cooperation player, meaning that he can also continue to play for Liefering.
Christoph Freund, the Red Bulls' head of football, says on the move:
Mergim has developed really well in the last few months, had a really good autumn with FC Liefering and therefore earned the chance to be with FC Red Bull Salzburg. He has great potential, and if he continues to work hard on himself, he can take a similar path to those before him who have made the way from our academy to FC Liefering to becoming a key part of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Mergim Berisha says on the new situation:
I began at the Red Bull Salzburg academy at the age of ten, and I've been through all the youth teams there right up to FC Liefering. I am really pleased that I have now signed a contract with the first team. I feel really happy at the club, which made the decision to stay at the club very easy.
