Attacker goes on loan to German Bundesliga club with transfer option

in Valentino Lazaro, another FC Red Bull Salzburg player has left to join a top club in the german bundesliga. the 21-year-old has signed a one-year loan contract at the side that has qualified for the europa league, with a transfer option included.

Valentino Lazaro joined Salzburg's Red Bull Academy in 2011 (playing 27 matches in the U16 and U18 teams). He made his way from there to the first team and Austrian national team (for whom he has eight caps).

The versatile midfielder made his first team debut at the age of 16. He has won five Austrian leagues and cups with FC Red Bull Salzburg, making a total of 121 competitive appearances (scoring 15 goals).

Sporting director Christoph Freund says on the transfer:

Valentino developed with us extremely well over many years, and played a big part in our success as a younger player. He informed of us his desire for a transfer before the start of the season, and we have now found a very good solution for us. Valentino is another outstanding example of our successful model in Salzburg. We wish him all the very best and lots more success in the future!

A long and successful spell has come to an end for Valentino Lazaro, who says:

It's an emotional moment for me, of course, as I have played for Red Bull Salzburg for so many years, I've experienced so much with the club and celebrated so much success. I am pleased now though that a good solution has been found for everyone. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the club for the superb support I have enjoyed here since I was 13. I really wish everyone the very best!
