From Ajax Amsterdam to FC Red Bull Salzburg

22-year-old full-back Rasmus Kristensen is joining us from Ajax and has signed a contract running until 31 May 2024.

The young Danish full-back moved in January 2018 from FC Midtjylland (in Denmark) to the Netherlands, and made a total of 27 appearances for Dutch champions and Champions League semi-finalists Ajax. With his previous clubs, Kristensen has won two league titles (1x Midtjylland, 1x Ajax) and one cup (Ajax).

The 22-year-old was captain of the Denmark U21 team at the recent European championship in Italy. He played against Austria at that tournament and has made a total of 26 appearances for the national side, scoring seven goals.

Sporting director Christoph Freund says on our new number 43:

Rasmus Kristensen is a player who fits our profile of requirements perfectly. With his top mentality and the way he plays football, he is ideal for us and our philosophy. In addition, Rasmus has a fair bit of international experience already, and brings further qualities to us that will do us good in his physical strength and size.

Rasmus Kristensen himself says on the transfer:

I am really happy and I’m looking forward to the new challenge. Since I heard about the opportunity of coming to Salzburg I’ve been really excited. I just want to get started and play some football. The main reason I decided on the transfer is the philosophy of playing and the way the club wants to do things: develop and help young players like me.
