Zlatko Junuzovic is staying with FC Red Bull Salzburg! We have arranged a contract extension with Sladdi for a year – until 30 June 2022.
four titles and a FIFA award nomination
Our experienced 33-year-old (who has played 198 times for Werder Bremen, 112 for Austria Vienna and made 55 appearances for Austria) switched from the German Bundesliga to Salzburg at the start of 2018. He has since made 84 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 22 assists.
As well as winning two league title and two cups with FC Red Bull Salzburg, Junuzovic was on the shortlist of this year's FIFA Puskas award. His stunning volley in the 7-2 win at Rapid Vienna in June was in the running for the best goal of the year in world football.
I feel extremely happy here in Salzburg – both for my football and privately. The negotiations on extending my contract were therefore extremely important. I am pleased that we were able to come to an agreement and that I will remain an FC Red Bull Salzburg player. I like the intensive style of football we play and my role in it. I feel I don't only suit the style of play and the team well, but I also take a lot from our young players on various different levels.
Sporting director Christoph Freund:
We are really pleased that we have been able to come to an agreement with one of our most important players and a big personality in the squad. Sladdi has developed even further in the past two and a half years he has been with us. He has really taken on board our special style of play and adapted his way of playing. With his footballing quality, personal abilities and his experience, he is one of our most important players and an important person for our many younger players to get advice from.
