Adam Daghim: "It's like a dream come true"

Interview with Dane on contract extension

He is one of four co-operation players who are still on the books of FC Liefering, but Adam Daghim took part in our Red Bulls' training camp in Marbella to show just what he can offer in the future. Having only joined Salzburg at the start of September, the 18-year-old Dane has a stunning seven goal involvements in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga and six more in the UEFA Youth League to his name.

As part of his contract extension today, we grabbed hold of the attacking talent and asked him to sit down for a short interview.

Hi Adam, what does the contract extension mean to you?

"This contract means so much to me. It is like a dream come true. When such a great club believes in you, it feels extremely good!"

How would you describe your first months in Salzburg?

"Everything has gone very well for me so far. I really enjoy living in Salzburg. Everyone has really looked after me. If I need something, there is always somebody there to help. I made a good start to the football in the autumn too and would like to build on that in the spring. I've scored a few goals for Liefering in the second division and also in the Youth League. That is a great thing for me! There were some great matches for me. As a striker, I always enjoy scoring goals and providing assists - and hopefully more of both will come!"

Could you have imagined in advance that you would finish this strong UEFA Youth League group first - ahead of Benfica, Real Sociedad and Inter Milan?

"We knew that we had strong opponents, but we always believed in ourselves! I had complete faith in the entire team at all times and knew that we could definitely win the group if we performed as we can. That's what we managed in the end."

What will you take from your time at the training camp? Which players do you enjoy hanging out with?

"For me it's about learning as much as possible from the others and working as hard as I can on every single day. I like spending a lot of time with Mads Bidstrup and Maurits Kjaergaard – my Danish compatriots - and they look after me well. I share my room here with my team-mate from Liefering, Salko Hamzic. He is a really nice guy."

What players are idols for you?

"I really like the way Neymar Jr. plays, and as a striker, Erling Haaland is my big idol. He scores loads of goals, and you can't do the job any better than he does."

What is your plan for the next while?

"My plan is always the same - working hard every day. I have the chance to show what I can do again in the friendly against Bodö-Glimt tomorrow. We are back in Salzburg on Saturday, and I'll link up again with FC Liefering. We have to perform as well as possible in the league, and I am already looking forward to the Youth League knockout stages."
