Our new head coach is Gerhard Struber. The 46-year-old from Salzburg has signed a two-year contract with the Red Bulls and begins his role with immediate effect.
Salzburg man with international experience
The father of two, who incidentally completed his UEFA Pro coaching badge together with our future sporting director Bernhard Seonbuchner, already has huge experience as a head coach. Gerhard Struber has coached in Austria (RZ Pellets WAC/Bundesliga), England (FC Barnsley/Championship) and in the USA (New York Red Bulls/MLS).
Struber developed his coaching skills during eight years working at the Red Bull Football Academy and at FC Liefering as well as an assistant coach of the Red Bulls.

We are pleased to have found an excellent new coach so quickly. We are continuing the successful Salzburg Way we believe in so strongly by appointing Gerhard, who has a lot of experience in Austria and internationally. It also pleases me that a local is coming in as our first real Salzburg coach who already knows a lot of the people he will work with and the culture of our club.
Gerhard Struber has learnt his trade at the club and in this environment. He has more or less fully absorbed our way of playing already. You could see these benefits in all of his coaching positions around the world so far. I am therefore completely convinced that Gerhard, who I know very well as a person, will be an excellent fit for FC Red Bull Salzburg, and I am looking forward to working together.
I am really pleased to have this opportunity, which is definitely the highlight of my career in coaching so far. As I have worked for several years in various positions in the academy, at FC Liefering and at FC Red Bull Salzburg, it is a kind of homecoming for me. The challenge of working for FC Red Bull Salzburg is a huge one. We therefore need to give our absolute all right from my first training session, tomorrow.
