First training session of 2023 completed

Our boys were in good spirits and looking fresh as they took to our Taxham training centre today. At 10:30 CET, Matthias Jaissle started our first session of 2023. The majority of our squad were there - along with a few new, and old, faces.

The returning Amankwah Forson and Youth League youngster Karim Konate took part, as did Jerome Onguene, who has arranged a loan until summer. Two of our long-term injured have also come back in Fernando and Bryan Okoh. They trained individually, as did Nico Capaldo, Justin Omoregie and Andreas Ulmer.

A video report from our training session is to follow on RBS TV.

The break wasn't such a quiet one, as there was activity on the transfer front. On the one hand, we saw Max Wöber leave, and we also managed to arrange loans for many of our young prospects in the hope of getting them again in the summer after lots of playing time.

I am certain that we will have a really good start to the season with this team and our re-charged batteries. We have an extremely youthful squad, we know that. In Fernando and Nico Capaldo, we are getting two key players back after injury though.

I feel really well rested. To have so much time off was unusual. We feel even more energetic as a result. The players have a glint in their eyes, we can't wait for the rest of the season, and we want to use the four weeks really well. We will focus in the preparations on laying the foundations to our way of playing. We are seeking to further develop the boys this year, and we looking optimistically into the future - we want to become champions and win the cup. We are looking forward also in the Europa League to two really cool matches again AS Roma.
