The former German youth international developed in the youth ranks of Bayern, for whom he made seven appearances. Last year, Krätzig left Munich to join league rivals Heidenheim, where he made 18 appearances, including in a relegation play-off against Elversberg on Monday that secured their top-flight safety.

The fleet-footed defender already has experience in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga as a loan player at Austria Vienna in 2024 (17 appearances).

Frans Krätzig will wear the number 13 for us and will start training on 9 June as we prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup.

We have made a new signing in Frans Krätzig who has taken a superb footballing development and is a very intelligent player. Another positive aspect is that he can play in several positions and is very versatile. Frans said very clearly to us that he really wanted to join FC Red Bull Salzburg – no matter where we finished at the end of the season.

I would like to help FC Red Bull Salzburg get back to where the club has been in the recent past and where it belongs. I have a great platform here that I want to use to help my future career and give you a boost. It is important that I integrate as well as possible into the team and get to know my new city. I want to make this my home for a long time.
