Andreas Ulmer's contract extended

Role at club after playing career offered

Andreas Ulmer is to stay at our club for a while longer with an agreement reached to extend his contract until 31 May 2024. The 37-year-old will then end his playing career, but he has already been offered the chance to continue working with us at the Red Bull Football Academy.

Record title winner

Andi Ulmer has played for our Red Bulls since January 2009 - and is therefore going to play for us for an incredible sixteenth year! The full-back with 32 appearances for the Austrian national team has played no less than 560 times for FC Red Bull Salzburg, becoming an Austrian champion a sensational 13 times and winning ten cups. The club record holder has made 131 appearances in European competition for our Red Bulls. The highlights of those have included reaching the UEFA Champions League (2022) and the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League (2018).

The 2023/24 season will be the last one in which Ulmer, who has a young family in Salzburg, plays for us. He has been offered the chance already to bring his great wealth of playing experience into our Red Bull Football Academy for a future career off the pitch.

We are really pleased that after so many successful years together, we will have another season from our captain of many years, Andi Ulmer. His attitude, consistency and experience have been vital for our team. The incredible number of appearances he has made for us, as well as his successes and many titles speak for themselves and will probably remain a unique achievement in Austrian football.

When he hangs up his boots, we are offering him the chance to work at the Red Bull Football Academy. We have already given Andi an offer from summer 2024 for that.

Sporting director Christoph Freund

I am pleased about the contract extension and the chance to play for FC Red Bull Salzburg for another season. This city and this club are my home. I have spent half of my time in football here, so the chance to continue playing here is very special for me. If you are happy in an environment, then that provides the basis you need for good performances. I have performed under a range of coaches for over a decade and am top fit.

My aims are to be a champion again and give the Champions League another go next season. I have a few plans still and am sure the best is yet to come!
