Maurits Kjaergaard contract extended

Dane signs deal until 2026

Maurits Kjaergaard has signed a new contract with us running until 30 June 2026.

The 19-year-old Dane joined us in the summer of 2019 from the Lyngby BK youth ranks and began as a co-operation player at FC Liefering. In his 47 matches there, Mau scored seven goals and provided 14 assists. The tall youngster (1.92 m) also made four appearance in our UEFA Youth League team.

In the 2021/22 season, the Danish U21 international became a permanent part of our Red Bulls' first team squad and has increasingly emerged into the limelight in recent months. He now has 29 appearances and five goals to his name (including in the UEFA Champions League v Bayern).

Mau developed really well over the course of last season, increasingly got into gear and is always making more of his huge potential. As we are certain that there is a lot more to come from him, we are pleased to have extended his contract for the long term. I am sure that Mau will take a very important role in our team this year.

Sporting director Christoph Freund

I am very satisfied on the whole with my first season at FC Red Bull Salzburg, as I have been able to play my own part in our great successes. I am pleased by this, and it motivates me to continue my path here and work hard so I can get even more playing time and further develop. Extending my contract provides even more motivation for this.
