The UEFA Youth League draw today gave our U19 team a massive clash to look forward to. Our Young Bulls are to face their counterparts from Real Madrid in Spain in the last 16.
The young Real side coached by World Cup Winner Alvaro Arbeloa won Group F in the autumn, taking 16 points and a 23-5 goal difference to beat Shakhtar Donetsk, RB Leipzig and Celtic. That allowed them to have a bye through the play-offs, in which our side beat Young Boys in a real nail-biting affair. The meeting with Real will be a repeat of the 2019/20 semi-final, which we narrowly lost 1-2 in the Final Four in Geneva. The match will be played on 28 February or 1 March (info to follow). Should we make the next round, we would face a quarter-final away to the winners of Barcelona vs. AZ Alkmaar.
