Peter Zeidler, FC Red Bull Salzburg’s new coach, took part in his first press conference in the new job today.
Zeidler has proved his coaching ability in Germany and France, and has been head coach of FC Liefering since September 2012, where he led the Salzburg youngsters to second place in the Sky Go Erste Liga. In this period he has also been able to develop several players for the Red Bulls’ first team – Ramalho, Caleta-Car, Pires, Laimer and Lainer.
Head of football Christoph Freund says on the decision: “Peter Zeidler knows our philosophy inside out and has been working successfully for a few years with FC Liefering. He is a coach whose work we know well and whose quality we are convinced of.
It also is a very good thing for the club for not only good players to further develop with us, but also coaches who have done a good job for several years, have consistently implemented our philosophy and helped to develop it.”
Peter Zeidler says on his new job: “I am delighted that the club has decided to appoint me. It is a great and exciting job for me to coach FC Red Bull Salzburg, and I can’t wait to start working with the team, along with the coaching and support staff.
"We have big aims here in Salzburg and we also have the confidence to follow them. We are in the special situation here of not only having good management at the club, but also a good scouting department. I am really pleased with the players who we currently have available; we have a great squad.
"Since I’ve been working here I know how important the Champions League is to Salzburg. It is a big aim that everyone wants to achieve. I think though that we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be distracted from our everyday work, which can perhaps happen. We need to concentrate on our work and give priority to our development.”
New signings Yabo and Airton
Two new players have joined FC Red Bull Salzburg ahead of the new season:
Reinhold Yabo joins Salzburg from Karlsruher SC in Germany. The 23-year-old midfielder made 66 competitive appearances there (scoring seven goals), having previously played five times in the German Bundesliga for 1. FC Köln. He scored his last goal for KSC in their promotion/relegation play-off against SV Hamburg. The German is joining on a free transfer and signing for the Red Bulls until 31 May 2018.
The player is looking forward to representing his new club, saying: “I owe so much to Karlsruher SC; I can barely put it into words. I’m 23 years old, however, and I have made the decision to take on a new challenge in professional football. I have found the ideal conditions for this at FC Red Bull Salzburg, and I am very happy with the decision.”
An interview with Reinhold Yabo will be published shortly on redbullsalzburg.at.
Joining Salzburg from Brazil’s Esporte Clube Juventude is Airton Moraes Michellon. The 21-year-old has signed a contract until 31 May 2020, and will train with FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Christoph Freund says on the new signings: “We are delighted that we have been able to sign one of the top players in the second German Bundesliga in Reinhold Yabo. We have been watching Yabo for a long time, and he is an important transfer for our plans for next season. We have also signed a very talented young goalkeeper from Brazil with Airton, who we see great potential in.”
