Amadou Haidara was quite simply THE shooting star for FC Red Bull Salzburg last season. Following the triumph of Salzburg's U19 team in the UEFA Youth League, the 20-year-old moved into the first-team squad at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. The midfielder from Mali became a true pillar of the team in next to no time, as well as a full international for his home country.
europa league goals v Lazio and Marseille
Doudou has already made 62 competitive appearances for the Red Bulls, in which he has scored ten goals – including two spectacular goals in the Europe League quarter-final v Lazio and Europa League semi-final v Marseille.
FC Red Bull Salzburg and Amadou Haidara have agreed on a contract extension until 31 May 2022 (without a get-out clause).
Sporting director Christoph Freund says on the player:
Amadou made an enormous leap last year, and made a significant contribution to our successes in Austria and Europe. His development is far from complete though."
Amadou Haidara is delighted about his early contract extension and explained his decision:
Last season with Red Bull Salzburg was very successful, and I am very pleased with how it went. My development isn't finished yet though, and I know that I have the faith and confidence of people here. That is the best platform for me on which to further improve."
