Welcome to Salzburg, Noah Okafor!

From FC Basel to FC Red Bull Salzburg

19-year-old winger Noah Okafor is leaving the swiss serial champions and signing a contract with us until 2024.

Young, dynamic and hungry - that is everything you want in a wide attacker. That's just what Noah Okafor, who is joining us from FC Basel, promises. Despite being just 19 he has already struck plenty of fear into opposing defenders.

His superb dribbling quality has long made him the jewel in the FC Basel youth ranks. He has also gone through all the age groups of the Swiss national team, even earning a call-up already from Vladimir Petkovic for the full national team. The 19-year-old has made 57 appearances for FC Basel 1893 (scoring seven goals and providing five assists). He won the Swiss Cup in 2019.

one for the future

Noah has not always had things his own way. At a young age he had to battle through the Basel youth ranks despite a slender physique. The young Swiss player with Nigerian roots then experienced a rapid growth spurt at the age of 15 to grow 11 centimetres within a year. He now is a towering presence at 1.85 metres tall, has an athletic build and a silky touch on the ball. His next big aim is to improve his end product.

Under Jesse's wings

The pressure is off our new signing, as Noah will spend the next a year developing and adapting to our system. His rough-diamond like ability should be polished in training. We are confident our 19-year-old new signing can develop nto a wonderful footballer.

all the best in Salzburg, Noah!

Sporting director Christoph Freund says on the new signing:

Noah Okafor is a lightning-fast and technically strong player who incorporates on the whole a lot of what we need for our football at FC Red Bull Salzburg. Noah already has some good experience in professional football at the age of 19, and we are very happy to have signed one of the biggest talents in Switzerland. On the whole we are well set-up in attack, but we can further improve our quality with Noah's ability. He will be given plenty of time with us to get used to his new surroundings and challenges. We are sure that Noah will be able to realise his great potential with the kind of football that we play.

Noah Okafor says on his transfer:

I am very happy and proud that my transfer to FC Red Bull Salzburg has come off. I can't wait for the adventure in Salzburg to start. My aim is to integrate into the team as quickly as possible and help them with my qualities. I know that it could take a bit of time for me to adjust my playing style and get totally used to the new type of football here. I am looking forward now to meeting my new team-mates, and I want to show what I can do as soon as possible.
