Ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League clash with RSC Anderlecht, our head coach Danny Röhl and forward Yorbe Vertessen faced questions from the media at the official press conference in Brussels. While our Red Bulls anticipate an intense encounter between two technically gifted, possession-focused sides, the match also marks a homecoming for our Belgian attacker.

Danny Röhl on …

… his expectations of the game:

We’re expecting a very interesting game. I believe both teams share a similar style of play: they are young squads, packed with talent and plenty of pace. Both sides want to play football - I think everything is set for a great Europa League match.

… the injury situation regarding Damir Redzic and Jesper Lindström:

We won’t know our exact starting line-up until 18:45 - or shortly before - so I won’t give too much away just yet. Things are looking positive: both players passed their fitness tests today, which we’re very happy about. We’ll see how we approach the match tomorrow. Essentially, we now have two additional options, which could prove very useful as the game unfolds.

… the current situation and the historical record of Austrian clubs at Anderlecht:

I wasn’t here in the past, so I don’t dwell on what happened before. We are very well prepared and will field a strong side. Even so, it will be a tightly contested match tomorrow - one that either team could win or lose. We’re here to pick up points. Just look at the standings - three points versus four points - it’s going to be a fascinating encounter.

… playing back in Belgium:

For me, this is naturally a special match. Many family members and friends will be in the stadium, as it’s not far from where I’m from. I have actually played in this stadium before - with Union Saint-Gilloise, though that was against Leverkusen - so I know what the atmosphere is like here, but I’ve never played against Anderlecht themselves. I’m really looking forward to the game. I want to present myself in the best possible light in front of a Belgian crowd, and I think it will be a very interesting encounter.

… the ambition to succeed in Salzburg and interest from Anderlecht back in the day:

When I was younger, Anderlecht did actually want to sign me - they were very serious about it at the time. But I was still very young then and in great hands at PSV Eindhoven, so there was no reason for me to move. That makes it all the more appealing for me to put in a strong performance here tomorrow. At Salzburg, you can certainly feel the expectation that we should be winning titles. Things have been going well so far this season - we are a top club, we want to win trophies, and that kind of positive pressure is simply part of the job.
