The 25-year-old Swiss goalkeeper came to Salzburg in summer 2018 from RB Leipzig, and played first as a co-operation player at FC Liefering in 12 matches. In the 2020/21 season, Köhn went on loan to Swiss second tier side FC Wil, and he returned from there after gaining plenty of playing time and confidence.

83 competitive matches as a Red Bull
35 clean sheets

The keeper born in Germany has played a total of 83 matches for us, and his exceptional performances have seen him elected Best Goalkeeper of the 2022/23 Austrian Bundesliga season as well as being called up into the Swiss national squad.

Philipp Köhn is to link up at AS Monaco with former Salzburg men Adi Hütter, Takumi Minamino and Mo Camara.

Views on the transfer of Philipp Köhn

Philipp has developed superbly in his four years in total with us, and after the somewhat unusual but important spell in the Swiss second division he really found his feet. His extremely strong performances in the past two years have earnt him attention from a lot of clubs around Europe, and it is ultimately not a surprise that he is leaving us.

I am really pleased that Philipp is now moving to a top club in a great league, and we wish him all the very best for his future in football!

Sporting director Christoph Freund

I am really grateful to everyone in Salzburg for the great time and the wonderful experiences that I have been able to gain over the years here. I have enjoyed so many positive things in football and in many other areas, which has helped me to develop. I therefore have to say a huge thank you to everyone as I leave.

I will definitely come to Salzburg again to visit – as an FC Red Bull Salzburg fan, perhaps on a holiday to this stunning region.

We wish you all the best in Monaco, Philipp! To mark your departure, we are going to enjoy our favourite Köhn videos one more time.
