Vote for Your Player of the Month for March 2023

Gourna-Douath, Seiwald, Sesko and Solet on short list

March 2023 was a busy month for our league campaign. We had a pair of away matches - to Vienna for the Austrian Klassiker along with our first trip to the new stadium in Linz. Our home match against Altach, which marked the end of the Bundesliga's regular season, saw a 1-1 draw before the majority of our squad left to link up with their national teams. We picked out four players who shone this month. You will decide which one prevails to take the Player of the Month crown!

Overview of the four nominees:

Lucas Gourna-Douath

The young Frenchman has nailed down a spot in defensive midfield. Interceptor, passer leader – Lucas Gourna-Douath can do it all, and is always there when you need him. The 19-year-old was close to netting his first goal once or twice, despite his defensive role, but still has that to aim for.

Nicolas Seiwald

On the subject of goals, our local lad has discovered the art of goalscoring this season! After getting the first Bundesiga goal of his career in February against Lustenau, Nicolas Seiwald has pressed on in March with two key goals against Rapid (plus an assist) and LASK. The 21-year-old has been everywhere on the pitch and continues to work tirelessly off the ball.

Benjamin Sesko

The record-breaking hat-trick off the bench in the 4-2 win against SK Rapid Vienna is worthy of a nomination in itself. With three goals in seven minutes, the Slovenian registered the fourth fastest hat-trick in Austrian Bundesliga history. At home against SCR Altach, Benji Sesko delivered again by leaping 1.95 metres into the air and heading in to equalise

Oumar Solet

We have to admit that here and again we get twitchy feet when we see Oumar Solet sprint forward and twist his way past opponents. The ball is virtually glued to the feet of the 23-year-old who played every minute over the month. No other player won the ball more often or passed more regularly to a team-mate!
