To make the extraordinary JEDER.MANN – Des is Soizburg documentary, our team have been shadowed around by a camera crew who had access to all areas of the club for around nine weeks since the start of pre-season training.
The co-production of Red Bull Media House and A1now.tv was able to capture unique and never before seen moments. The goings-on among our players and coaches in the dressing room, team bus, team hotel and in private are being broadcast to a wider audience for the first time and show all the hard work our boys have put in to make their eagerly awaited start in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The long route to the UEFA Champions League
After so many failed attempts to make it in the past, our coach Jesse Marsch was given just 13 weeks to get a new team in shape for the competition we have aimed to be in for so long. For that we have to not only live up to the great test of Champions League football, but also handle the expectations of the public.
The similarity of the documentary's title to the famous Austrian play Jedermann is no accident - even if our stage of the Red Bull Arena is a different kind, it provides its fair share of tragedies and festivals of football. The title also reflects the philosophy of our club, of the team spirit, application and coherence that provides the foundation to our success. The Des is Soizburg subheading is one of our guiding mottos and sums up the kind of insights the documentary provides: close-up, personal, emotional and authentic.
The series will be available on 9 September in Austria exclusively on A1now.tv
There are a total of eight 15 minute episodes in the series. The documentary was produced by German company oinkfilm. The premiere of JEDER.MANN – Des is Soizburg will take place on 9 September 2019 exclusively - and free to air - on A1now.tv/jedermann. New episodes will be released every Monday at 23:00 on A1now. Sky are also showing the documentary series in Germany.
From 28 October 2019 the entire series plus bonus meterial can be seen on www.redbull.com. An extended version of the documentary will also be shown in the autumn on ServusTV.
The content and quality of the images are of the highest quality. The production was made in close cooperation with Red Bull Media House using the very latest in technology.
For our friendly matches against FC Chelsea and Real Madrid, the referees were fitted with 360° BodyCams and Miniton devices – as were some of our players in training. The production work also involved the use of helicopters and drones.
As innovation is an important factor in our model, we decided to carry out this special project. The individual episodes don't just cover our many successes in recent years, they also take a look and provide insight on difficult moments. Along with the intensive and comprehensive preparations for the Champions League group stage, our long mission to make it there is also covered, of course. As part of our preparations for these special matches against Liverpool, Napoli and Genk, there were a lot of exciting and interesting behind-the-scenes clips that fans and spectators have never before seen.
At the start, there was a bit of scepticism from some of the team. As time went on, the filming work became part of our everyday life, and in the end even helped bring a lot of positive energy into the team. I had the feeling that the players and staff had a lot of fun. It is exciting that our hard work was been shown in such close detail and I think that you can get a lot of interesting insights that you never got before, which can help you to get to know our club better.
Us players are used to having our work filmed on the pitch. What is new and a little unusual is a camera being everywhere - in the dressing room, bus and hotel. I am really looking forward to see what came out of it.
Nepomuk V. Fischer (director and producer):
