Players take wage cut to support businesses, organisations and people in need

Life in Austria has been reduced to just essential aspects as part of efforts to contain the coronavirus. The economic consequences have had a major impact on the country. For this reason, our boys have started an initiative that aims to relieve some of the impact.

support for the club community

The entire team have accepted an immediate pay cut. A six-figure sum generated every month from the savings will be used by the club to set up a fund. This will be distributed to companies, organisations or individuals in the club's community who are in a difficult financial situation and need urgent help.

Stephan Reiter, FC Red Bull Salzburg general business manager, is pleased about the willingness of his team to help, saying:

Respect to the players, who have shown a great sense of responsibility with their initiative. It was their idea, and together with the team council we put the idea into action. It was important for us that the players were also involved in the decision about who should receive support.
